Web statistics in Siteimprove

Siteimprove is a tool that helps improve your pages by collecting and analysing data on user behaviour.

It gives you insights into how users interact with your pages, which pages they visit, how long they spend on each page and how they navigate your site.

In addition to analysing user behaviour, Siteimprove also provides information on accessibility, SEO and content quality, including, for example, dead links and spelling errors.

How do I get access to Siteimprove?

All web editors at SDU have access to Siteimprove.

If you do not have access to Siteimprove, please email the Web team at SDU Communications at web@sdu.dk. We can help you get started.

How do I use Siteimprove?

Below you will find short guides to finding and correcting dead links and spelling errors, as well as analysing user behaviour using Siteimprove.

You can also find guides to all Siteimprove features here.

Siteimprove flags any spelling mistakes/typos on your pages.

You can also review words to confirm or deny if they are actually correct and add approved words. The latter two functions are used to customise and optimise spell checking.

How to correct spelling mistakes and typos:

  1. Log in to Siteimprove and find the page and group you want to check out at the top of the page.
  2. Click Quality Assurance > Spelling > Find spelling errors in the left side menu.
  3. This lists the spelling mistakes.
    a. To correct the spelling error, tap the arrow next to ‘Pages’ and then click on a specific page. The spelling error is displayed in the left side menu under ‘Instances on this page’. Click each spelling mistake to highlight the error on the page. Then find the relevant pages in Sitecore and fix the spelling error.
    b. To approve the spelling, tap the ‘thumbs up’ icon.
  4. Once you have updated or removed the dead links on the relevant pages in Sitecore, you can re-scan the page in Siteimprove to check that the spelling errors have been fixed. You can usually restart the scan by tapping ‘Find spelling errors’ again.

Siteimprove’s user behaviour statistics help us understand how users behave and interact with our sites.

To find data on user behaviour:

  1. Log in to Siteimprove and locate the page and group you want to check out at the top of the page.
  2. Go to the ‘Marketing Analytics’ tab.
    a. Click ‘Visitors’ to get an overall understanding. You can see the number of visitors, page views, average visiting time spent and bounce rate.
    b. Click ‘Inputs and outputs’ to gain insight into how users arrive at and leave your pages.
    c. Click ‘Traffic sources’ to see where users are coming from.
    d. Click ‘Behaviour’ to view user behaviour when they visiting the pages, including which routes they take (‘User Routes’, ‘Funnels’ and ‘Behaviour Tracking’) and how users click, scroll and move on specific pages (‘Behaviour Maps’).
