SDU has decided to import your course material from two years (F19-E19-F20-E20 of courses created from STADS, and manually created courses created later than 1 January 2018) from Blackboard to itslearning. 

This tutorial shows you how to access this course materials and get it into your courses in itslearning.

Do you want older materials than the automatic migrated, you need to download the materials in Blackboard first or create your own package.

This guide provides information on how to copy the same Topic from one course to another specific course multiple times. The guide is thus complementary to the guide referred to as 'Copy teaching materials to a new course'.

To prevent copying the same Topic several times into a new course, you can only copy a Topic from one course to another specific course once – this to avoid duplicates. This is also the case despite deleting the copied Topic from the new course, as it will still part of the new course – just placed in the Trash can. Therefore, this guide shows you how to permanently delete a Topic from a course. You can then re-copy the original Topic from the previous course and to your new course.

Note: The guide also applies if you wish to repeat coping one or more Plans.

Exam assignments and questions are usually not handled in itslearning, but instead in Digital Exam.

Setting up exams and uploading exam assignments is typically handled by the study secretary - this differs from faculty to faculty.

You can log in to Digital Exam at, where you can see an overview of the exams you are associated with.

As an administrator or a lecturer, you do not have to do actively archive or delete your courses (subjects, modules). Instead you should be aware, that the courses are deleted by SDU IT 4 years after creation and thereby your access to the course material.
To simplify the overview of your courses at the homepage (Home), you can unstar the relevant course cards after course completion. Consequences:

  • That the course will no longer appear in the pop-up window under the Course menu item
  • That you no longer receive notifications from the course (e.g. Announcements, deadlines for assignments)
  • That you no longer can access Updates about the course from the homepage

Follow steps 1 through 3 below to unstar a course card:

For faculties with quarter structure - please note regarding courses at the second or fourth quarter: If you start informing the students about elements they need to be aware of weeks before the start of the course, then consider using the messaging system as a first step. This to make sure that the students see the information as they the students might have unstarred the course until the course beins and therefore, do not receive any notifications.

An example of such a message: Dear students. Please be aware that the course “xxx” is ready for you. To make sure you receive notifications, please check that you have starred the course card at the itslearning homepage. Best regards. XXXX

The formal teaching evaluation is carried out digitally via the system. In itslearning it is possible to use the Survey function to evaluate and get feedback on your teaching.
