The construction of the new HEALTH building is approaching the finish line
Most of the new HEALTH building has now been handed over to the Danish Road Directorate, the construction's main contractor. In the upcoming months, they will collaborate with SDU to finalize the building for move-in.
On April 14th, most of the construction projects in the new HEALTH building were handed over to the Danish Road Directorate, which is responsible for the construction of the new faculty building.
With this so-called AB delivery (delivery of construction), the project moves into the final phase, as responsibility for the construction projects is transferred from the individual contractors to the Danish Road Directorate.
- In recent years, the industry as a whole has faced many challenges, so we are pleased that we are now approaching the finish line," says project manager Per Seidelin from the Danish Road Directorate.
Now changes can become reality
Along with assuming responsibility, the Danish Road Directorate is now able to document any deficiencies that need to be corrected by the contractors before they are paid.
On the other hand, the Danish Road Directorate can now also initiate changes without contractors being able to object.
-This means that the craftsmen can now begin to implement our planned and approved changes to the greatest extent possible," says Tom Møenbo Gregersen, head of New Building at SDU.
Transfer from the Danish Road Directorate to SDU
At the same time as the construction work is being remedied and changed, the next few months will also be spent completing the last construction projects.
Landscape and technical projects are still ongoing but will be completed over the summer.
At the same time, the move into the new building will start from August 1st, while the project will be transferred from the Danish Road Directorate to SDU on August 31st so that the building can be ready for students when the autumn semester begins in September.
Schedule for move-in
The Faculty of Health Sciences will move into the new HEALTH building from August 2023. Teaching will begin in the new building from September 1st, while most of the faculty's other activities will have been moved to Campus Odense during the fall.
