Catering in connection with meetings at SDU

The new guidelines have been adopted by SDU's Executive Board and an appendix has been added to "SDU's internal circular on entertainment dinners, receptions and gifts”. This means that the circular has not been changed, but an appendix has been made with the new guidelines on which to act.

Water, coffee, tea, etc. from the institutes/units own kitchen or vending machine can always be brought to meetings.

SDU has the following guidelines for catering at meetings, with or without an agenda or similar structured form, which is held on one of SDU's campuses:

Meeting type / Participation Meetings where only employees at SDU participate
(internal meetings on SDU)
Meetings with participants, who are not employed at SDU
(external meetings on SDU)
Regular meetings. No catering. Catering morning, lunch or afternoon, depending on meeting time.
Professional half-day meetings
(3-5 hours)
Morning or afternoon meals. Meals in the morning, lunch and afternoon.
Professional all-day meetings
(5+hours)
Meals in the morning, lunch and afternoon. Meals in the morning, lunch and afternoon.
Especially when receiving new
employees and students
(onboarding)
Morning or afternoon meals. Not applicable

The different types of catering include the following:

Type Content of catering
Morning meals Coffee, tea, water, bread, roll, fruit.
There must always be a healthy alternative.
Afternoon meals Coffee, tea, water, fruit.
There must always be a healthy alternative.
Lunch Lunch at a reasonable level, eg. sandwiches and water.
There must always be a healthy alternative.

The above common guidelines for catering in connection with meetings at SDU have been adopted by SDU's Executive Board:

  • The guidelines are a common maximum framework for the entire SDU.
  • The guidelines apply to all employees at SDU.
  • At present, target figures for consumption for meeting catering at SDU do not have to be set.
  • Vegetarian menus (with the option to choose meat) and water / sugar-free water are default when ordering catering.

The common guidelines for catering must be seen both in the light of SDU’s goal of creating a sustainable university and the focus on reducing costs, cf. the budget for the years 2021-2024. Through common guidelines, we can show frugality, uniformity and sustainability in SDU’s activities and daily work on Campus:

  • Sustainability: We always want to offer healthy alternatives and avoid food waste.
  • Uniformity: We want to have common practice across the entire SDU.
  • Frugality/economy: We want to reduce the cost of internal meeting catering.
