Graphic and language services become free of charge

From 1 January 2024, employees at SDU can order graphic design and printing free of charge. The same applies to linguistic assistance from SDU’s Language Services Unit. The new procedure has been introduced to reduce the administrative work at the University.

From 1 January 2024, two service options in SDU’s Central Administration, namely the Language Services Unit and the Graphic Center, will offer their services free of charge as part of the effort to reduce the administrative work associated with graphics tasks and language solutions for SDU employees, including PhD students.

Translation/proofreading services can only be booked via the form on this page. Please note that orders via email are no longer accepted. However, you are always welcome to contact us at sprog@sdu.dk.

The Language Services Unit provides internal language assistance in Danish and English. Our offerings include:

  • Translation between Danish and English (note: SDU’s official variant is British)
  • Proofreading in both Danish and British/US English
  • General linguistic advice

Please note:

  • If the Language Service Unit is unable to take on the task due to scope (more than 15,000 words per assignment), deadline or language combination, we reserve the right to refer to SDU’s tender partner Semantix. This solution is at the client’s own expense.
  • We do not translate/proofread entire books, but refer to Semantix. This solution is at the client’s own expense.
  • Jobs are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so we appreciate a heads-up about any upcoming tasks. However, if your schedule slips, we cannot guarantee that we can deliver the job at the agreed time.

Order graphic solutions directly via the webshop – but please do so wisely

Graphic design, print and printing solutions must be ordered here via the Grafisk Center's website.

Orders are still processed on a first-come, first-served basis and there will be an alignment of expectations between the client, graphic designers and print shop. This relates to deadlines, time spent, scope of work and partial deliveries. There is also a limit on each individual product category in the webshop.

For print and graphic design jobs, please consider your order from a sustainability perspective:

  • Consider whether it is necessary to print physical materials.
  • Always order the absolute minimum number of copies. The Graphic Center can quickly do reprints.
  • Please do not order graphic design or printing unless for a defined, agreed and approved product for an end user. The end user can be an internal unit at SDU.

The Graphic Center does not deliver:

  • Graphic design or prints for individual employee use, unclear projects and loose deadlines, or for drafts and undefined purposes
  • Free images
  • Free customised printing. If a job requires external delivery (e.g. special paper, a special format, etc.), this is agreed with the client. The price of the total job is invoiced to the client.

Neither the Language Services Unit nor the Graphic Center has been allocated additional resources, so all tasks still need to be ordered and planned. The scheme applies to orders placed from 1 January 2024.
