More applicants to SDU’s programmes via quota 2

The figures for this year’s applications to higher education programmes via quota 2 have been published. At the University of Southern Denmark, a positive increase can be seen for the second year in a row.

SDU is seeing a spike in the number of quota 2 applications in 2024 compared to last year. 14,905 applications were received by the deadline, up by 4% compared to 2023.

The number of first-priority applications is at 4,360, which is 7% more than last year. In particular, the educational environments in the SDU campus cities of Sønderborg and Kolding are seeing an increase in applications for their programmes.

Spike driven by greater interest from abroad

The spike in applications is primarily driven by an increased interest in SDU’s programme offerings from prospective international students who have applied for one or more programmes. And even though there is a long way to go from the current applications received to the new students actually enrolling in September, Helle Waagepetersen, pro-rector for Education at the University of Southern Denmark, is delighted with this year’s trend.

‘Part of SDU’s strategy is to aim for even more attractive and diverse study environments. I am very pleased with the interest we have received with the many applications. The next phase is to find the right students who will contribute to SDU’s academic and social communities and who will ultimately be offered a student place,’ says Helle Waagepetersen.

Increase in applications for master’s degree programmes

The master’s degree programmes have also seen an increase in the number of applications.

By the deadline for the 1st round of applications for SDU’s master’s degree programmes, the University has received 10,931 applications. Overall, the figures are 20% up from the number of applications received last year. For applications to master’s degree programmes, the increase is also largely driven by applications from international students.
