Advice on Application writing

Applying for a research project as a coordinator is a long process. Below you can find the mandatory steps in the process from getting started to submitting your application on time.

Begin working on your idea, identifying potential funders and partners.

Consult with colleagues and Research Support Humanities as you scope your project.

There are resources and examples to help you on our internal sharepoint site.

 

Send a one-page proposal to your head of department, giving a brief outline of your project, partners and funding strategy.

 

Attend an initiating meeting with your head of department to discuss your workload and the project's resourcing.

 

Once you have your Head of Department’s go-ahead, begin work on the application, including budget, planned activities and project description. Inform Research Support Humanities and the finance team in your department:

Seek help, sparring and support throughout the planning process, from:

Book and attend a meeting with your Head of Department to finalize details regarding funding strategy, buyout/co-financing and budget.
Send completed draft for internal peer review (for grants of 1,3 million DKK and over) and integrate feedback from peer reviewers.
Grant your contacts from Humanities Research Support and from the departmental finance team access to your application in e-grant (or similar portals).

Ask your departmental finance team in good time to send your budget for approval by the head of department and FSØ (FSØ's approval is needed if SDU's share of the budget is over 8 million kroner). Note that FSØ can take up to five working days to approve the budget.
