Network access at SDU

Two wireless networks  are available at SDU:

  • eduroam – for all staff and students
  • SDU VISITORfor guests

eduroam

Eduroam is the safe and encrypted wireless internet access for staff, students, and guests. Staff members can use eduroam if they want wireless connection to their network drives and administrative systems

You must use your SDU email address as username and a configuration assistant tool to connect to eduroam.

The configuration utility can be accessed via eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)

eduroam is recommended for:

  • eduroam is recommended for all mobile devices
  • eduroam is present at all universities in Denmark and at most universities in the rest of Europe. Your device will automatically log on to the network with your SDU user information.
  • Once you have your setup running, you can use it when visiting other places where EDUROAM is present
  • Students prefer EDUROAM, because it is secure and because it is often required in connection with exams.

Logging

Please note that any use of the wireless networks is logged. All authentications are logged. This means that both users and devices are registered. When networks are used, it will be logged what service is used against which server. Guests from other participating universities have their authentications logged at their ‘home’ institutions. SDU only logs whether access succeeded or failed. Use of network will be logged. SDU will log your authentication via eduroam at other institutions
