The oral mid-term evaluation is dialogue-based and provides an opportunity to adjust the teaching along the way. Here you can read about its purpose, recommendations and ways to organise the mid-term evaluation.
It is recommended that the lecturer and/or course leader carries out both an alignment of expectations at the beginning of the course and an oral mid-term evaluation with the students for all course runs.
At the beginning of the course, the lecturer and/or course leader should:
present the course content, intended learning outcomes and expectations of students’ effort
explain the format and criteria for evaluation
explore students’ own expectations through dialogue
This creates a shared starting point and makes it easier to follow up later.
Midway through the course, a dialogue-based evaluation between the lecturer/course leader and the students is recommended. There is full methodological freedom, and the lecturer chooses both the approach and the timing.
The mid-term evaluation may usefully focus on:
choice of teaching methods
alignment between teaching and intended learning outcomes
