Holiday Greetings from the Dean

As 2022 is coming to an end, a holiday break awaits us before we enter a new year

By Marianne Holmer, , 12/21/2022

Dear Staff

I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2022 has been another special year with many upheavals. After the pandemic, I had a hope that we could look forward and stay focused on some of the global challenges. Where experts could play a greater role in advising decision-makers and ensuring evidence-based solutions.

Unfortunately, the inhumane war in Ukraine has shaken us all. The many consequences in the form of rising energy costs and the rearming of the defense mean major changes in the private and social economy. At the faculty, we have started to review our budgets for the coming years to ensure a sustainable economy during these changes.

Despite this, we maintain our ambitions to deliver high-quality education and ensure a good study environment across all programmes. The many recent grants show that the Danish and international foundations assess that our research is of high quality and contributes to new and relevant knowledge in our society.

I would like to say thank you for the great effort made by the entire faculty. I hope that everyone has had the opportunity to enjoy themselves during the month of December with the various social activities that have been held around SDU. I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy Christmas and the holidays with family and friends.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Marianne Holmer, dean
