SDU IT introduce a new layer in reference to our desired security model, intended to not only secure data on an SDU Mac, but also ensuring that e.g. OneDrive, Sharepoint and Outlook data is only accessed from compliant SDU devices.

What is Company Portal?

Firmaportal – or Company Portal – is Microsoft’s MDM supporting app for Windows, macOS and iOS devices. Company Portal can be used to tell our Microsoft 365 cloud apps whether a device is an SDU device or not. This is done on the basis of registration of your device and ongoing compliance checks, which ensure that your device is safe to use for your work at SDU.

Why device compliance? 

Microsoft 365 device compliance makes it possible to ensure that only approved and updated devices can access data in Microsoft’s cloud.

At the same time, you will have activated an improved Single Sign-On experience that limits the number of times you have to enter your SDU username and password and use MFA authentication when you work on your Mac.

How to connect your Mac 

Company Portal will have been automatically installed on your Mac. The registration process is started automatically so that Company Portal opens and you register by logging into Company Portal with your SDU username and password (including any MFA code).

In this connection, a certificate is installed in your keychain, which will be used in the future as part of your login process for Microsoft 365 services. You will therefore see a dialog box after registration asking you to present the certificate when logging in through Microsoft 365.

Your browser(s) will ask you for the same so that they can also log you in correctly through Microsoft 365. You must also click ‘Always allow’ when viewing this dialog box during login with your browser(s).
