Delayed commissioning of the Biobank in New SUND

The Biobank in New SUND will not be ready for use until the turn of the year, rather than as originally planned at the end of October.

Challenges with inadequate ventilation have delayed the commissioning of the Biobank in New SUND.

Various tests have now clarified the nature and extent of the problems, and a solution scenario has been identified and initiated for rectification. However, there is a long lead time for the equipment that needs to be installed.

As a result, the commissioning of the Biobank will not be possible as originally planned at the end of October but rather from the turn of the year onwards.

Relocation of the remaining units in WP is maintained

The project steering committee, in conjunction with the heads of the IST and IMM departments and following consultations with relevant research leaders, has assessed that the postponement of the relocation of the remaining units in Winsløwparken cannot be delayed any further.

Therefore, there is consensus to adhere to the current timeline for the relocation of the units, which means moving without the Biobank with an interim period of approximately two months, during which materials will continue to be stored in freezers in WP.

It's an unfortunate situation, but the assessment has been that, through close collaboration, temporary solutions can be found to ensure that daily operations can be maintained until the Biobank is ready for use in New SUND.

See the updated schedule here.

Technical Service is available and will arrange further details with the affected units.

In general, Technical Service will handle any questions related to this announcement and other matters regarding the relocation to New SUND via 8866@sdu.dk.
