Student organizations and study environment in New SUND
It's not only teaching and research that are moving from Winsløwparken to New SUND. SUND's student organizations and activities are also making the move. And there will be room for it all – just in a new way.
On August 28, 2023, classes will begin in New SUND, and the new faculty building will truly come to life as several hundred students occupy the many new facilities.
Among those moving into the new building are also the student organizations and activities of SUND, which have been based in Winsløwparken until now.
They have therefore cleaned up, sorted, and packed in recent times, so they are now ready to move to new surroundings on Campus Odense.
Academic and Social Interaction in New SUND
In order to provide the best possible framework for both academic and social study activities in New SUND, there has been an ongoing dialogue between the student organizations and SDU's leadership prior to the move.
This has resulted in designated rooms in the New SUND building for storage, meetings, and social interaction.
There will be:
- 1 room on the first floor in New SUND for meeting activities for SUND's student organizations.
- 1 room on the first floor in New SUND for social interaction among SUND's students.
- 3 rooms in the basement for storing materials for SUND's student organizations.
- Space in a dry biobank for storing materials for SUND's student organizations.

Facilities in New SUND and on Campus Odense
In addition, New SUND offers plenty of informal meeting places, study zones, and the like that can be used as gathering points – where you can also meet students from SDU's other programs.
This is also possible across the rest of the campus, of which New SUND is a part. Furthermore, there are also plenty of facilities for students.
For instance, the Friday bar "Nedenunder" is quite close to New SUND, as is "Cafe Ved Siden Af." The café is not currently operational, but if there are student associations willing to operate it for all of SDU's students, then there is a possibility for that.
Epstein Bar
Epstein Bar is also moving to Campus Odense, where it will continue to fulfill various functions and be a cornerstone of the social life for SUND students.
The framework for Epstein will just be slightly different.
While there will be rooms for both storage and social interaction in New SUND, efforts are still underway to find a solution regarding the recurring café events in New SUND and the monthly pub night on Campus.
But the status is that there will certainly be space for everything, albeit in a new way.
