The outdoor areas around the new HEALTH building are taking shape
600 meters of paths, 500 bicycle parking spaces, and a total paved area of 6,000 square meters. These are some of the things that are currently being constructed around the new HEALTH building.
Forests, open fields, living hedges, streams, and rainwater basins intertwine, creating a mosaic of habitats for many animals and plants. The landscape surrounding new HEALTH building is truly special.
Therefore, great effort has been put into the construction to create a visual expression that respects the existing landscape while also capitalizing on the fantastic opportunities of being so close to nature.
Courtyards will be established between the buildings, and nature will be integrated into the structures, framing outdoor spaces and areas for meetings, movement, and bicycle parking.
Furthermore, a comprehensive system of pedestrian and bicycle paths around the building will encourage the use of the surroundings. Killerup Rende, which has been culverted during the construction period, will be reopened and incorporated as a beautiful element in the future landscape surrounding the building.
Below you will find some facts about the outdoor areas of the new faculty building, and at the bottom of the page, you can see pictures of some of the areas where paving and landscaping are being implemented around the new construction.
About outdoor areas and bicycle paths:
The majority of the task of establishing paving and landscaping around the new HEALTH building will be completed when the move-in process begins from August 2023.
The outdoor areas around the building will offer, among other things:
- Two larger squares.
- 600 meters of paths.
- 500 bicycle parking spaces, including 300 covered ones.
- Courtyards at ground level and on the 1st floor.
- The inventory for the outdoor areas has not been purchased yet, so outdoor meetings cannot take place with tables and chairs from the beginning.
In the future, it will also be possible to access the new HEALTH building via newly established bicycle paths:
- On the west side, one can come from the north along the existing bicycle paths and continue on the newly constructed paths under the building to the covered bicycle parking areas.
- On the east side, you can come from the existing supercycle path along the tram and continue on the newly constructed paths under the building to the covered bicycle parking spaces.
- The supercycle path alongside the tram will be connected to a newly constructed bicycle path underneath the new HEALTH building, which runs along Killerup Rende towards Munkebjergvej. The bicycle path will open during the summer of 2023.
