Consider using a more climate-friendly mode of travel and avoid flying domestically in Denmark.

If you are travelling by plane, book through SDU's travel agency CWT. SDU is signed up to the SKI framework agreement, so we can buy airline tickets with fixed discount rates.

As a general rule, you should travel in standard/economy class and buy the cheapest possible tickets.

As a general rule, you must use public transportation as much as possible in connection with a work-related trip. If it is most appropriate and economical for SDU that you use a private vehicle, this is possible.

Your travel expenses can be reimbursed via SDU’s travel reimbursement system zExpense.

Be aware of local agreements on reimbursement of mileage allowance. For instance, the kilometers between your home and place of employment must be deducted if you drive directly from your home address to the destination, depending on whether the driving takes place on a day when you have previously agreed with your manager to work from home.

Information that must be included in the mileage reimbursement:
•    Date.
•    The purpose of the journey.
•    The start and end location of the journey, such as residence or name of the person or company visited, including the address (Street name, number and city).
•    Number of kilometers driven.
•    Registration number of the vehicle used.

Trains are generally a suitable mode of travel. You can buy train tickets in several ways, so check with your department if you have a preferred method before you buy.

Please note that you must be able to document the journey, regardless of the ticketing method you use.

If you don't normally take the train to work, you can get reimbursed for ticket costs between the city where you live and the destination.

If you normally take the train to work, you can claim the cost of the ticket between the city where your workplace is located and the destination. In practice, this can be difficult to maintain, for example when using a travel card, so there should be room for a practical and pragmatic solution, as long as it is explained on the travel reimbursement form.
