Årsfest

The Annual Celebration is held on the last Friday in October at Campus Odense.

The annual celebration is

  • an opening ceremony with speeches by the Chair of the Board, the Rector and the student representative 
  • celebratory lecture
  • conferment of honorary doctorates and doctoral degrees 
  • awards for research dissemination, teaching, innovation, TAP and honorary alumnus
  • celebratory dinner
  • party

After the opening ceremony, the celebration spreads to the entire university campus, and guests, staff and students sit down to the celebratory dinner. During the evening, even more people will flock to the event when various bands and DJs take to the stage. In total, more than 4,000 people will participate.

Only invited guests and SDU staff and students have access to the annual party.

The university closes at 12 on the day of the Annual Celebration.

Nominations for awards

Nominations and proposals for awards must be accompanied by a CV (max. two A-4 pages) and approximately half a page of reasons why the candidate in question should be nominated to receive one of the awards. The options must contain the academic title and the justification must be completed in Danish.

The nominations are sent by email to Jette Demuth Andersen at jat@sdu.dk at the latest by the end of May the year of the Annual University Celebration.

Based on submitted nominations, the executive board decides who will receive this year's awards.

In addition to the common awards, the faculties can choose to award awards for the individual faculties.
