Status of the restructuring
Central Liaison Committee has discussed proposals for a new organisation of the study administration
At its meeting on 11 September, SDU's Central Liaison Committee discussed the executive board's proposal to develop a more coherent and efficient study administration at SDU.
Central Liaison Committee agreed that the overall thoughts on the future study administration can be presented now, as there is great interest in the management's considerations.
Overall, the future study administration points in the direction of gathering more tasks in fewer organisational units. This will create robustness, professional communities and the opportunity to streamline processes. The proposal also aims to ensure continued good service to lecturers and students and prepare SDU to implement a new student information system.
The proposal is inspired by the good experiences that currently exist in Kolding, Esbjerg, Sønderborg and Slagelse, where there is very close collaboration between departments, faculties and SDU Education on several educational administrative tasks.
– With this proposal, we are drawing some exciting new lines for study administration at SDU. Overall, it will make us more robust, ensure better academic communities and enable resources to be used more efficiently. My message remains that no one should be worried about their employment at SDU. It is not the plan that the restructuring of the study administration will lead to a major round of adjustments, says University Director Thomas Buchvald Vind.
With the presentation of the overall ideas for the future study administration, union representatives and the local liaison committees can also gather input for the liaison committees' discussions, which will take place 12-17 September.
– The Central Liaison Committee has had a constructive discussion on the proposal for the future study administration, which shows a new path with greater robustness and strong communities. Employee competences are crucial to the success of this transition. We realise that there may be many questions, so you are welcome to reach out to us union representatives with general questions and comments. You can also contact your representatives in the local liaison committees, which will discuss the matter in the coming days," says Christian Bilde Dannevang, vice chair of the Central Liaison Committee.
The further process
As mentioned in the article about the transition from 9 September, the executive board approved on 4 September that liaison committees can now consider the proposal.
An overall announcement on the actual organisation of the study administration is expected on 23 September, once the liaison committees have completed their discussions. This will be followed by a dialogue process in October-November with the affected employee and manager about the organisational location before the final location can be announced in December.
