Anne Binderkrantz to become new Pro-rector at SDU

Professor of Political Science Anne Skorkjær Binderkrantz is to become the new Pro-rector at the University of Southern Denmark. She joins from Aarhus University and has extensive experience in research, educational leadership and strategic university management.

Anne Skorkjær Binderkrantz will take up her post as Pro-rector at SDU on 1 November 2026. She will join the Rectorate, which constitutes SDU’s senior management. In this role, she will help to set the direction for SDU’s continued development and to put the university’s strategic ambitions into practice.

Rector Jens Ringsmose welcomes the appointment:

– Anne Binderkrantz has a very strong research profile and considerable experience in both educational leadership and strategic university management. At the same time, she has a keen insight into the university’s role in society and the political and institutional conditions under which universities operate. Her experience and perspectives will strengthen our efforts to set the direction for SDU and translate the university’s strategic ambitions into tangible results. I am therefore delighted that she has accepted the role of Pro-rector at SDU, and I look forward to working with her, says Jens Ringsmose.

Anne Binderkrantz is a professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Management at Aarhus University. Her research focuses in particular on the interaction between the political system and external actors such as interest groups, private foundations and businesses.

Extensive experience in the higher education sector

She has managerial experience from a number of major research projects and from her previous position as head of studies at the Department of Political Science and Public Management at Aarhus University. She has also served as a member of Aarhus University’s Board of Governors for four years, which has given her in-depth knowledge of both the operational and strategic aspects of university management.

In recent years, she has been part of the research management team for the Power Inquiry 2.0. Here, she has gained significant experience in collaboration across research environments, engagement with relevant stakeholders and research dissemination. She is also a member of the Research Council for Society and Business.

Anne Binderkrantz is looking forward to joining SDU:

–As Pro-rector, I look forward to becoming part of SDU’s senior management team and contributing to the university’s strategic development. SDU is an ambitious university with strong academic environments and a clear desire to create value for society. I look forward to getting to know the staff and students and, together with the rest of the management team, translating the university’s ambitions into concrete results. For me, it is crucial that this takes place through close dialogue across the university and with respect for the knowledge and experience that already exists at SDU, says Anne Binderkrantz.

Facts

Anne Skorkjær Binderkrantz is a professor of political science and holds a PhD from Aarhus University. She is a researcher who focuses on interest groups, lobbying, political elites and the role of private foundations. She has published widely at an international level and has extensive experience in research management, curriculum development and research dissemination.

She is 50 years old, lives in Åbyhøj and has two sons aged 16 and 18 respectively.
