SDU Takeover

In 2022, SDU will launch a new offer targeting upper secondary schools: ‘SDU Takeover’

SDU Takeover brings together a team of talented students who visit upper secondary schools in and around the Region of Southern Denmark to take over the teaching with exciting academic dissemination and dialogue at eye level.

SDU Takeover offers to take over teaching for a full day at upper secondary schools on Funen, Southwest Zealand and South Jutland. This applies to all year groups and all fields of study. SDU Takeover will strengthen SDU's position as a unique international-level regional university and build on the excellent cooperation with the upper secondary schools at a time when regionalisation is high on the agenda.

'Takeover' is a well-known term from social media, which describes a situation where an actor lends his or her platform to another actor for a period of time in order to raise awareness of new content or to reach a new audience. In this context, SDU Takeover means SDU taking over the platform of the upper secondary schools to raise awareness of SDU and give insight into our students' everyday life at SDU.

The teaching is taken over by SDU's talented students, who will receive thorough training in conducting teaching on a subject they have academic insight into. The teaching modules therefore have the academic weight that characterises teaching and learning in higher education, but they are communicated in a way that meets the students at eye level. In addition, the students will talk about studying at SDU, about choosing an education programme and about life as a university student.

The project organisation is currently being set up, and we are working to ensure a close academic anchoring of the project across SDU. It is key to the project that the students are well-prepared to deliver high-quality dissemination, and that the overall offer represents the academic competences that characterise SDU's programmes and research. Helmed by Henning Andersen, member of SDU's Council for Education and Director of Studies at the Faculty of Engineering, the project was approved by SDU's Executive Board on 21 December 2021 upon the recommendation of the Council for Education.

Upper secondary schools on Funen are invited to contribute to the development process by joining the steering committee and an advisory board.
