SDU adopts new strategy for external research funding

The framework for research funding is changing. In order to accommodate and take advantage of these changes and ensure that SDU can continue to conduct research of the highest quality, SDU has adopted a new strategy for external research funding. Read about the strategy here.

The landscape for research funding has changed in recent years, and a new strategy seeks to help SDU take advantage of the opportunities offered by research funding and thus strengthen the University’s research.

So says Rector Jens Ringsmose, who is pleased with the final result:

- Like the rest of the university sector, SDU needs to adapt our approach to external research funding. With the new strategy, the Executive Board wants to give SDU’s academic environments the best possible framework for succeeding in taking home more research funding and continuing to conduct top-quality research. I am convinced that the strategy can help promote our overall goal of creating value for and with society.

An insight into the strategy

SDU wants to increase the consumption of external research funding by 30% by 2030 – corresponding to a growth of DKK 218 million.

This requires a focused effort in order to help the academic environments in the best possible way, and the strategy points in particular to four areas: Recruitment and talent development, prioritisation and management, organisation and administrative support as well as networking.

Developed in collaboration between the RI Council, RIO and the faculties’ research support units, the specific plans for the individual focus areas will be implemented on an ongoing basis across SDU.
