Security Cameras at SDU – Purpose, Access, and Protection of Privacy
SDU is in the process of installing security cameras at selected locations as part of its efforts to protect critical research and strengthen overall security and safety across the university.
We are aware that questions may arise regarding what the cameras can see and how recordings are used.
The cameras have been installed to secure relevant common areas and access routes. Their purpose is not to monitor employees in their daily work.
Recordings are not reviewed on an ongoing basis. Review only takes place in connection with specific incidents, in accordance with applicable procedures and with the approval of the University Director.
Access to recordings is restricted to a very small number of authorized individuals and requires the necessary approvals in accordance with SDU’s current regulations.
