Data subject rights

The GDPR contains rules that give the individual data subject, i.e. the person whose data is being processed, a number of rights in relation to SDU

If you receive an enquiry where the data subject wishes to exercise their rights, or wishes to exercise them themselves as a data subject, please contact the Legal Office.

The words "right of access" or "right of rectification" do not need to be explicitly mentioned. It can easily say "What personal data does SDU process about me?" or "I would like a copy of my medical record. Will you send it to me?".

  • When SDU processes personal data about data subjects, we are obliged to disclose a number of things, such as the purpose of the processing, the types of personal data processed, and how long the data is processed.
  • The right to access the personal data SDU processes about you/the data subject.
  • The right to have inaccurate/incorrect personal data about you/the data subject rectified.
  • The right to have your personal data deleted/forgotten if a number of conditions are met - for example, if consent has been withdrawn or if the purpose of the processing is no longer relevant.
  • The right to data portability is about the data subject having the right to receive their personal data in certain cases and to request that the data be transferred from one data controller to another.
  • The right to object to otherwise lawful processing if they have compelling reasons against the processing. For example, you want your name removed from an examination list because you are particularly vulnerable due to another protected job function or other private matters.
  • The right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling.
