Support for students with dyslexia

SDU wins support tender

Support for dyslexic students falls under the SPS scheme, which means that it is funded externally through applications to and grants from the Danish Agency for Education and Quality (STUK).

The agreement with STUK is put out to tender every four years, where interested actors can propose a bid for the task. Most recently, there was a tender round in December 2022, where SDU made a bid proposal for the task, which now includes support for all long-cycle higher education programmes in the Region of Southern Denmark.

In April, SDU received the good news from STUK that we have won the tender, and we will therefore keep the task in-house.

What does the aid involve?

Support for dyslexic students at SDU is provided by a small team of academic literacy counsellors employed by SDU Student Services.

Support includes dyslexia testing, clarification, instruction in the use of IT aids and study support sessions. Study support sessions may include, for example, support with written assignments, reading strategies, note-taking techniques and the implementation of IT aids in everyday study life.

In addition to the support for dyslexic students, support is also offered to a small number of students with similar reading and writing difficulties, e.g. as a result of concussion.
