About internationalisation

This year’s top scorer is Italy

How the SDU International Summer School went

This year’s International Summer School took place in the first half of August. It was a great pleasure to receive students physically after two years of mainly hybrid or purely virtual presence.

Participants

In total, just under 200 international students, 486 SDU students and 14 students from other Danish universities participated. The vast majority attended the 18 courses offered at SDU Odense by the NAT, SAMF and TEK faculties, but a small, committed crowd also found their way to the Medical Devices and Imaging course offered at SDU Sønderborg. The participants hailed from 38 countries, both near and far. This year’s top scorer was Italy, closely followed by Germany and Indonesia.

The social activities

During the two weeks, our ‘social guides’ provided a variety of social activities. These included ‘Speed Friending’, Quiz Night, Board Game Night, Karaoke Night and a full-day weekend excursion to Egeskov Castle or the Dybbøl Mill and the surrounding area. At the farewell reception on Friday 19 August, it was clear the students had formed strong bonds during the two weeks, and many were not ready to end their stay yet. It is quite possible they will return to SDU later during their studies.

The final examination

All courses ended with an exam on the last day, after which participants travelled back home with 5 ECTS under their belts and new friends from all over the world.
