Quantum & Crémant: Leveraging Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum Hardware for Quantum Chemical Calculations.

Speaker: Erik Kjellgren
Department of Physics, Chemistry, and Pharmacy

Abstract: In this talk, we explore how noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) hardware can be utilized to accurately compute molecular properties. By combining the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) for wave function circuit preparation with quantum linear response theory, we can extract molecular properties. However, the inherent noise in NISQ hardware presents a significant challenge, impacting the accuracy and reliability of the results. We will discuss how error mitigation strategies can help address these challenges and enable the extraction of meaningful computed results.
