Changes in the faculty administration

In consultation with the faculty management group, Head of Secretariat Niels Kring has decided to implement some changes in the Science Faculty Administration.

By Marek Bang Poulsen, , 6/27/2022

As from 1 August 2022, all teams in the Science Faculty Administration will have team leaders:

  • Gitte Toftgaard Jørgensen will be appointed team leader of the Dean's Office.
  • Søren Sten Hansen will be appointed team leader of the Student Administration team.
  • Camilla Gundlach will be appointed team leader of the Student Counselling team.

Just like the current team leaders of the NAT–External Relations, NAT–Finances and NAT–Communications teams, the new team leaders will be responsible for coordinating and sparring on task completion, well-being and workloads with the other employees in their respective teams.

The three new team leaders will continue to be part of the day-to-day running of the administration and will be the natural points of contact if you need to get in touch with their respective teams.

Niels Kring will continue to be responsible for the staff in all teams affected by the changes.

Attentive management and strengthened educational management

The decision has been made on the basis of the experiences of the External Relations, Finances and Communications teams, who have all had team leaders for a few years, and in the light of the faculty's strategic focus on ensuring good management based on the employees' well-being.

As a result of these changes, each team in the Science Faculty Administration will have a team leader as from 1 August 2022.

I believe that Gitte, Søren and Camilla have the right skills and personal qualities to become good team leaders. Therefore, I am incredibly happy that they have accepted this important task.

Additionally, a new reference group for the coordination and management of educational administration will be established.

The tasks of the group will be:

  • planning and providing administrative support for educational development
  • setting an administrative framework and direction for educational development
  • ensuring coherence in educational administration across the faculty, including all relevant perspectives
  • making decisions of principle in relation to educational administration
  • supporting the work of the vice dean
  • providing inputs to the meetings of the Educational Committee
  • working on closer cooperation with the student administration staff in the faculty's departments

The reference group will consist of Poul Nielsen, Niels Kring, Gitte Toftgaard Jørgensen, Søren Sten Hansen and Camilla Gundlach.

Reassignment of tasks and responsibilities

The following are the changes in the division of tasks and responsibilities that follow from the new organisation of the Science Faculty Administration:

Dean's Office

  • The team will have an increased focus on employee well-being and the implementation of the faculty's action plan for working environment and well-being. The team leader will be the project manager of this effort.

  • Project and process management of various projects at the faculty will be an increased focus area for the team.

  • The team leader might take over certain tasks related to the hiring of personnel.

  • Responsibility for educational quality will be transferred to the Student Administration team.

Student Administration team

  • As from 2023, responsibility for academic activities during the study start on the Bachelor's degree programmes will be transferred to the Student Counselling team.

  • The team will take over responsibility for educational quality.

Student Counselling team

  • The team will be expanded to include an additional part-time student counsellor.

  • The team will have an increased focus on student well-being and will strengthen its dialogue with the faculty's departments in relation to counselling, career initiatives for students, internationalisation and well-being.

  • As from 2023, the team will take over responsibility for academic activities during the study start on the Bachelor's degree programmes offered by the faculty.
