When you apply

When you are in the process of applying for funding, there are a number of things to consider. Find them below.

Once you have identified a suitable call for your project, you are ready to write you research proposal. We are happy to assist you each step of the way, from the rough draft to the final adjustments. Get in touch here.

During the drafting of your proposal, you should consider the following suggestions:

  • You should always follow the Faculty of Health’s guidelines for budget approval. If the budget exceeds 8 mio. DKK you need approval from FSØ. If the funds applied for are less than 8 mio. DKK you only need budget-approval from your host institution.

  • You should always start drafting your project proposal early enough to allow for others to read it before submission.

    Successful proposals typically go through several drafts, so start making a draft as soon as possible once you have found a suitable call!

    You can get feedback on your application in several ways:

    • Seeing that the review boards vary a lot from funding body to funding body, your proposal will often be reviewed by scientific generalists without special knowledge of your field. The generic parts of a proposal should always be understandable for a non-expert.

       


    • The help offered by our research support team primarily consists of revision of the generic sections of a proposal, such as introduction, research design and general structure. It is thus a good idea to get a scientific peer to read through the more technical parts of your proposal as they alone have sufficient knowledge to assess the novelty and feasibility of your project.

    • We are always happy to read and comment on draft proposals. Note, however, that the amount of time and effort we can spend on a proposal depends entirely upon the time we receive: leaving only a few days to a deadline, we can only offer minimal support, whereas a project received months in advance will get a much closer review.
