Happy faces and curious questions filled SDU, which hosted 50 interactive workshops and debates where both children and adults got up close with science.

The Faculty of Health Sciences was impressively represented with 18 activities and up to 100 participants who spent Saturday making their research accessible and relevant to people of all ages.

Dean Ole Skøtt of the Faculty of Health Sciences, who was among the visitors on the day, was pleased to see the faculty's strong support for the event:

- It was impressive to see so many excellent stands showcasing health sciences research, and especially to witness the participants' engagement and the fruitful conversations with the guests, which undoubtedly made many more informed about what we do at the university.

The Faculty of Health Sciences Showcased the diversity of Its Research

For the first time, all eight institutes of the Faculty of Health Sciences had researchers and students participating, displaying the diversity of the faculty’s research.

Guests could, among other things, embark on an impressive journey through the work at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, try meditation as a treatment for autism, have their hearing tested, taste carrot juice as a prevention for colon cancer, and subject themselves to a pain test.

They could also learn about the workload of prosecutors, back pain, the effects of alcohol on the liver, how best to treat trauma, and how artificial intelligence is used in healthcare.

There were also visits from Doctors Without Borders and the Teddy Bear Hospital, as well as researchers from the Faculty of Health Sciences participating in a debate with Clement Kjersgaard about vaccines, a discussion with Anna Lin about youth and well-being, and a show with Motor Mille on the importance of physical activity.

- I would like to extend a big thank you to all the researchers and students from the Faculty of Health Sciences who were part of the activities at the Festival of Research and demonstrated in the finest way how research can be made accessible and relevant to the broader public, said Ole Skøtt.
