The New Health Building

Necessary renovations alter the plan for the move to the new HEALTH building

For a significant portion of the units with laboratory facilities, the move-in schedule is changing. The relocation of units without laboratories will be maintained, while the move-in for teaching will proceed as planned leading up to the start of the semester at the end of August.

In the current plan for the move to the new HEALTH building, the majority of relocations are scheduled from August onwards.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a situation where the time needed to carry out minor yet essential renovations for the utilization of the laboratories is not compatible with our plan for moving into the new buildings.

Therefore, we must make changes to the move-in plan if we intend to have a swift and efficient relocation process with minimal disruption to research activities.

We understand that this late stage, where moving boxes are packed in many places and resources from both ourselves and external suppliers are dedicated, is an additional inconvenience on top of the disappointment of the delayed move-in for some.

On the other hand, maintaining the existing move-in plan would have significant consequences for research activities, as several laboratories would not be ready.

Planned Changes to the Schedule

As a result, we are adjusting the move-in dates for a large portion of units with laboratory facilities.

The timing for the relocation of units without laboratories will be maintained, while the move-in for teaching will proceed as planned leading up to the start of the semester in late August.

With the updated move-in plan, the majority of relocations will now span from August to December 2023 – and for some specific areas and units, extend into 2024.

Please refer to the updated schedule here.

What happens next?

There is now a task ahead to assess the consequences and restructure in accordance with the revised move-in plans. Technical Service will be available to discuss the details with the affected units.

Subsequently, employees in each unit will be informed about what the changed move-in plans will mean for them specifically.

Furthermore, Technical Service can be reached at 8866@sdu.dk to address any questions related to this announcement or any other matters concerning the move to the new HEALTH building.
