SDU blocks the top-level domains .zip and .mov for security reasons
SDU IT has decided to block the top-level domains .zip and .mov.
This decision was taken as a security measure, as these top-level domains are often used for malicious activities. Computers may mistakenly consider links with these domains as compressed zip files or video clips in MOV format.
Both of these top-level domains are relatively new, and around 4,000 websites use them. SDU’s decision to block them is a proactive step towards ensuring the security and protection of our network.
If you have any questions about the above, please contact the service desk at servicedesk@sdu.dk
A top-level domain (TLD) is the same as a domain extension. It is the part of the full domain name that comes after the full stop.
For example, sdu.dk is a top-level domain – that is, .dk.
Other examples of TLDs are .com, .net and .info.
