New Plans Tool

The new spring semester 2024 course will be set up using the new Plans design. All previous courses will also change to the new design on Jan. 31st.

The new Plans make it easier for you to navigate and work on your plans. Some of the most important changes are:

Plans are divided into 4 categories:

  • ”Current" plans are the default. This means that past plans can no longer be seen straight away when you click the tab Plans. In the old plans tool, all plans were shown, and this difference may cause some confusion at first.
    • Current: Current and future plans dated after today’s date.
    • Past: Here, you’ll find plans dated before today’s date.
    • Without date: Here, you’ll find non dated plans.
    • Topic: Here, you’ll find all plans regardsless of date, divided into topics.

Table view:

  • You can choose to see all plans in a table view. The table view is located under Plans in the top right corner.
  • This design is visually similar to the current version of plans.

Topics:

  • Topics changes visually from being one field to being a plan “tag”. Please consider whether this means anything for the structure of your course in case you copy contents from a previous course.
  • Please note that the Topic Description is now only shown when viewing a Topic from the Topics tab. It will not be shown under Current plans. Hence, important information should not be in the topic description, but in a plan.
  • When you set up a course, it is recommended that you first set up your topics, then your plans.

Add images to your plans:

  • You can now add images to your plans to make them more visual.
  • The images must be JPG, PNG or GIF, and the maximum size is 2 MB. Below is an example of a plan with image.

Setting up timing/dates for plans:

  • It is now easier to connect a plan to a specific calendar event. However, connecting a plan to an event rather than a date may have consequenses for which students can see it and how. Please continue to follow your Faculty’s recommendations:
  • The Faculty of health recommends:
    • The use of events (begivenheder) for setting a time for plans.
  • The Faculty of the Humanities, Business and Social Sciences and Engineering recommend:
    • If you only have one lesson per week, it is a good idea to set the date for the whole week. In case you need to move the lesson (within the same week), the plan will still connect to the calendar event.
    • If you have several lessons per week, set the date for the day in question, so only one plan is shown in the calendar for the specific day.
    • If you have a course with several groups, and the course has both shared and group specific activities, connect the plan to the calendar event. This ensures that the plan is only shown to the relevant group (the Topic will be shown to all students, though). See guide to Setting a time for plans for courses with groups.
  • The Faculty of Natural Sciences recommendations:
    • The time setting must reflect the shortest possible time during which a plan is relevant for the students.
    • A time should not cover an entire semester or several weeks, since such a timing will overshadow more chronologically relevant materials

Statistics for resources and activities:

  • For each plan, you can now easily see how many students have opened the resources.
  • Correspondingly, students also have an easy overview of which resources they have opened.

Can materials still be copied from old course rooms?

Yes, you can still copy materials from old to new rooms. You can now import plans to the course room you are in. Previously, you could only export materials from old rooms. You can copy entire topics rather than single elements by choosing Topic under Plans.
