The description of societal impact in a research project increasingly becomes a competitive parameter in funding applications. However, it is also a parameter that we repeatedly hear from the grant-making funds that we are not good enough at describing.
In two workshops, we will work to understand the major Danish research foundations understanding of the concept of impact, how societal impact is identified and described in research projects, and how to ensure that impact is implemented from the very beginning of a research project. The instructors are research support staff at SDU who have experience and insight into understanding and describing impact.
In the two workshops, you will receive:
• An introduction to the funding landscape
• An overview of different types of impact and the various understandings of impact by grant providers
• Concrete tools to strengthen guidance on and writing of applications with a strong impact focus (e.g., competency matrix, theory of change, board game)
• Insights into the practices of selected funds and pools regarding impact: examples, rules of thumb, and experiences
• Perspectives on good collaboration: roles and expertise in the application processWorkshop 2 will be hands-on; working in practice based on concrete application examples.
The date and time for workshop 2 will be September 12 from 9-11.30
Workshop 1, Tuesday, June 10 from 9-11:30 will focus on understanding the concept of impact and identifying the different interpretations of impact from various Danish funds. The workshop is hybrid, so there will be opportunities for both physical and online participation.
