Share the library with your students

When students move beyond their reading lists and start finding research literature for themselves, subject databases are a good place to send them. EBSCO databases cover a wide range of disciplines but share the same search interface. Once students have learned their way around one of them, much will therefore look familiar in the others.

In the library’s subject-based database overview, you can find all 27 EBSCO databases and direct your students to those most relevant to your subject.

Tips to pass on to your students
  • Learn from a good article. Once you have found a relevant article, take a look at its Subject Terms. They show you which terms the database uses to describe the topic and can help you identify new and more precise search terms.
  • Search for several word variants at once. Add an asterisk to the stem of a word. For example, educat* can retrieve education, educational and educator.
  • Build your search using concepts and synonyms. Combine synonyms with OR and different concepts with AND. Use quotation marks for fixed phrases, for example: ("climate change" OR "global warming") AND education.
