Jesper Månsson

What is a typical day at SIF like for you?

Of course, there are some standard tasks, but I never know what my days will look like. Many tasks are typical ad-hoc tasks. For example, Kim, the plumber, is coming today, and when I arrived this morning, the postman came with nine packages. All external people, such as craftsmen, couriers, etc., come through me first. Some days few come, other days everyone comes at once. I am essentially the contact person for all those functions that come from outside.

It is my job to be available for my colleagues and to help them with whatever they may need. Part of my job is to provide a service that my colleagues do not necessarily notice because it is about keeping everything at SIF running as it should.

What is your education?

I have an office education, which I am happy about in this job, as sitting in an office is not unfamiliar to me. Otherwise, I am self-taught in terms of craftsmanship and can do many different small things in this field, but I also know my limits. I always try to assess the situation first to see if it is something I can help with or if expertise is needed.

It is quite fun to have such a role where you need to know a bit of everything without being an expert in it because you can't be. You also need to know your limits.

Describe a good day at SIF in three words

Joy, unexpected, and busy. It is important that I am happy when I arrive. It is important to spread good vibes around the office, which I try to do every single day. There should preferably be no bad days. I think I make sure to set the tone for good days. If I didn't, it wouldn't be fun or a joy, as I feel it is to work here. I am happy with my job.

In a job like this, you need to be there when it happens. It is enough for me to take and solve tasks the moment they arise. For example, I swept leaves in the yard this morning at 7:20 AM because I left very early. I like the flexibility of the job because if a task requires you to be there earlier, then you are there earlier.

I can only say that the collegiality for me has been fantastic from the very first day I came. I am really happy with the way I have been received, both by those in Odense, who are my employers, and those here in the house. It means a lot to be welcomed immediately. I quickly get to know people a little. As someone once said to me, "Jesper, do you know everyone?" It is part of the job to be able to talk to everyone. You need to be able to interact with different people. In my job, it is important to be able to make contact with others. You probably also become more confident with age in this regard, as you become more comfortable with yourself. I have never been shy in that way, but it comes to you that nothing happens if you talk to people.

What is the funniest/strangest thing you have experienced at SIF?

When we switched from daylight saving time to standard time, I noticed the clock outside. I assumed it would adjust itself automatically, but neither Monday, Tuesday, nor Wednesday had it adjusted back. None of my predecessors, when I called them, had noticed the clock. Apparently, the clock needed four days to switch from daylight saving time to standard time. That is probably the strangest thing I have experienced here at SIF.
