COVID-19 is again a critical threat to society
The Danish Parliament has again decided to categorise the coronavirus as a disease presenting a critical threat to society. SDU is not subject to new COVID-19 restrictions. Employees and students are encouraged to show consideration for colleagues and fellow students and follow the health authorities’ recommendations and advice.
On Tuesday 9 November 2021, the Danish Parliament’s Epidemics Committee decided to categorise COVID-19 as a disease presenting a critical threat to society – for an initial period of one month. This means that the authorities may once again impose restrictions to limit the spread of infection in society.
SDU is not subject to new restrictions
The Ministry of Higher Education and Science has informed the Danish universities that the university sector is not subject to new restrictions. Therefore, no restrictions will be introduced at SDU as the university does not have a legal authority to implement restrictions.
At SDU, this means that the university does not require employees or students to have a valid corona passport in order to show up on campus, attend conferences, attend lectures or exams, attend Friday bars etc., which take place under the auspices of SDU at SDU’s locations.
In general, we must face the fact that COVID-19 is present in society, and that COVID-19 may therefore also be present at the university. SDU encourages employees and students to show consideration and follow the university’s principles of caution, inclusiveness and trust, which have guided SDU safely through the pandemic since the spring of 2020.
If employees or students feel worried, employees are encouraged to contact their immediate manager and students to contact their faculty via the Corona button in SPOC (https://spoc.sdu.dk/logintype).
You are encouraged to report cases of infection
If you as a student become infected with COVID-19, SDU recommends that you report your case of infection via the Corona button in SPOC (https://spoc.sdu.dk/logintype). Employees must follow the normal procedure for reporting sick. Information about cases of infection at SDU can be helpful if other students or employees at SDU need to be informed in cases where the infected person does not have contact information for any close contacts.
If a situation arises involving a particular risk in relation to cases of infection and the spread of infection at SDU, SDU can convert individual physical activities to online activities for a shorter period. The decision will be made locally at the faculty or in the Central Administration.
If SDU in the near future will be subject to new restrictions from the authorities, further information will follow for employees and students.
