New restrictions at SDU from 19 December 2021
In order to curb the increasing spread of COVID-19 in society, new restrictions have been introduced at SDU and in the rest of the university sector from Sunday 19 December 2021. You must wear a face covering or visor if you show up in person, and the requirement for a valid corona pass has been extended by four weeks.

SDU and Vejle Municipality in close collaboration on campus
More than 9,000 students are currently studying a degree programme in the Triangle Region. This number is set to increase with SDU and Vejle Municipality’s joint announcement of the establishment of SDU Vejle, a new campus offering IT, health and engineering programmes.

Call for working from home and cancellation of events: New COVID-19 measures at SDU
As of 10 December, new COVID-19 restrictions will take effect across Denmark. The universities remain open and may conduct teaching, exams and research, but are encouraged to cancel social events and make use of remote work.

New COVID-19 restrictions mean that students, employees and visitors to SDU must be able to present a valid corona passport at SDU’s locations from Monday 29 November. Random inspections will be carried out.

Climate focus at all levels – SDU’s climate plan is well on its way
Right now, almost 40 gigatonnes of CO2 are emitted globally per year. It is too much to avoid the worst climate impacts and stay within the framework of the Paris Agreement. This is why global, national and local actions are needed – and SDU is working hard to reduce the university’s emissions in line with what is deemed necessary by research.

The new HR system is well on track – but there is still some way to go
SDU’s new HR system HCM was launched on 1 June, and unfortunately, there are still challenges in getting the underlying data basis in place. The Danish Parliament has again decided to categorise the coronavirus as a disease presenting a critical threat to society. SDU is not subject to new COVID-19 restrictions. Employees and students are encouraged to show consideration for colleagues and fellow students and follow the health authorities’ recommendations and advice.

SDU set to strengthen its regional activities
This summer’s political agreement on education in Denmark stipulates that the admission of students in the nation’s four largest cities must be reduced by 2030. SDU stands a good chance of meeting the requirement thanks to the University’s multiple regional campuses. Towards the turn of the year, SDU is working on preparing a plan to strengthen the University’s regional activities and reduce the number of student places in Odense.

Media training for SDU researchers
In future, the University’s communication department will assist with a thorough media training of a group of researchers 3-4 times a year. The media training lasts for 4 hours, and the participants are selected in close collaboration with each faculty. In addition, a detailed self-help page has been set up on SDUnet.

The History of Capitalism: Interdisciplinary course of lectures invites the rest of SDU for discussions and idea development
Historian Jeppe Nevers and Economist Paul Richard Sharp have joined forces to organise a course of lectures entitled The History of Capitalism. By inviting researchers of international calibre to visit the interdisciplinary environment at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS), the two researchers want to provide a breeding ground for an interdisciplinary dialogue on the concept of capitalism.
