International Exchange
The international cooperation between the European universities is further supported with the EU's approval of SDU's participation in the forthcoming Erasmus+ programme for the next 7 years.
The international dimension at SDU is closely linked to Erasmus programmes, which for many years have ensured a large exchange of students.
This development is set to continue, as SDU has just received EU approval to participate in the upcoming Erasmus+ programme for 2021-27.
- This is a process where we must be accredited every 7 years to be able to participate in the programme, so that we can continue to exchange students and staff and obtain funding for international cooperation projects in the EU.
- In our application, we have described in detail a number of different aspects on how we work with the priorities of the programme and the EU in the field of education - not least our efforts to link this with our work with the UN's SDGs. As a result, SDU achieved 100 out of 100 possible points, says Stefan Knudsen, Head of Division, SDU International.
International cooperation is important
Today, around 900 students from SDU travel abroad for study trips or internships each year. More than 40 percent of them head to another European country with support from Erasmus+, and at the same time, the University receives about 800 young people from abroad, two out of three through Erasmus+.
- Currently, we are in a situation where a pandemic has shut the world down with major consequences for everyone's movement across borders. Hopefully, we can soon look forward to a reopened world, where students can once again reap the full benefits of the opportunities offered by the Erasmus programme. It cannot be stressed enough that international cooperation is central to our work as a university, says Pro-rector Sebastian Mernild.
