Media training for SDU researchers

In future, the University’s communication department will assist with a thorough media training of a group of researchers 3-4 times a year. The media training lasts for 4 hours, and the participants are selected in close collaboration with each faculty. In addition, a detailed self-help page has been set up on SDUnet.

SDU Communications is increasing its support for research dissemination by offering thorough media training. The purpose of the course is to give researchers optimal conditions to be able to appear in front of the press in an interview situation. Having been tested on a group of HUM researchers and gained positive feedback, the initiative is now becoming a permanent offer.

The media training course is planned to be held at fairly fixed intervals 3-4 times a year. Together, SDU Communications and the communication department of each faculty will select a handful of researchers who are not experienced in appearing in the press, but who also wish to disseminate their knowledge to the general public.

This is followed by thorough preparatory work – again in collaboration with the faculty – where realistic interview situations are planned and then rehearsed during the actual course. In addition to exercises, the course includes a theoretical discussion and info on the current state of the media as well as specific advice on what to do when the journalist calls.

Can't wait, either? Then SDUnet is the place to go!

In addition to the intensive media training courses, a page has been set up at SDUnet. Here you will find all of our sound advice. Although the webpage is not completely finished, it offers plenty of content that can help you as a researcher to ensure that the interview process will be a good experience for both the expert and the journalist.

Producer and journalist Anders Boe, head of press Bolette Marie Kjær Jørgensen and journalist Nicolai Lynge Drost from SDU Communications are in charge of the media training at SDU.
