The work of appointing a new rector of SDU is proceeding as planned

On 29 August 2021, the application deadline for the advertised position as SDU’s future rector expired. The Appointments Committee is now ready to initiate the next phase of recruitment.

One of the key tasks of SDU’s Board is the appointment of the rector. After thorough discussions, SDU’s Board has set itself up as an appointments committee; even though it is a large committee of nine members. The appointments committee consists of the five external board members and the four internal – two employees and two students from SDU. The appointments committee is chaired by Niels Thorborg, Chairman of the Board. The application deadline has expired and the committee is ready to initiate the next phase.

The next steps

It has been important for the Board to obtain input about the profile that describes the position of rector. The recruitment agency Genitor, which assists with the recruitment process, has therefore conducted interviews with internal and external key stakeholders prior to the advertising of the position.

Genitor is also assisting the appointments committee in the further process of job interviews and testing of candidates. According to plan, this will take place within the next few weeks, after which the Board will make its decision. The Board expects to be ready to announce of the name of SDU’s new rector later this autumn.
