New Rector

Jens Ringsmose takes over as Rector of SDU

On 1 November, Jens Ringsmose has his first working day at the Rector’s Office at SDU. He is looking very much forward to this job, and one of his first priorities will be to visit the entire SDU and the university’s external partners.

From today, the Rector of SDU is Jens Ringsmose. It was already announced at the beginning of October that the new rector had been found internally at the university and more specifically at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, where Jens Ringsmose was Dean – but he did not take office until today.

The new man to lead SDU says that he has a clear ambition to strengthen the knowledge of and relationship to internal and external partners as one of the first things in the job.

- In the first months, I will prioritise visiting all campuses, faculties, departments and administrative units. I will also prioritise meeting with as many of SDU’s external partners as possible during the first months. There are many parts of SDU which I still have only a relatively superficial knowledge of. I would like to change that, he says.

Thanks to Ole Skøtt

Jens Ringsmose takes over from Ole Skøtt, who has been Interim Rector since this summer. Ole Skøtt returns to the Faculty of Health Sciences as Dean, and additionally, he temporarily continues as Chair of the Council for Education and as SDU’s representative in Uddannelsespolitisk Udvalg (committee on educational policy) (RUP) of Universities Denmark.

- Ole did not just put his hand on the steering wheel when he was handed the responsibility for SDU back in the early summer. He manoeuvred the ship with great diligence, skill and integrity, and he deserves a huge thank you, says Jens Ringsmose.

It has also been decided to temporarily appoint Sten Rynning as Dean at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences as of 1 November. The position as dean at SAMF will be advertised soon.
