New internal website on international rankings at SDU
A new internal rankings page makes it easier to gain an insight into SDU’s work on international rankings. Here, staff can read about the significance of the rankings for the university and see how they themselves can contribute to SDU’s international visibility and rankings.
International rankings help shape perceptions of a university’s quality and prestige. They are important for SDU’s international visibility, attracting research talent, fostering stronger research collaborations and recruiting students. They can also influence opportunities for partnerships and funding.
The rankings compare universities from around the world based on a range of different parameters. Each year, this results in a score and a ranking for each individual university. At the same time, the results enable SDU to compare its progress with that of other universities.
A joint, data-driven effort
At SDU, a working group on international rankings has been appointed under the Rector. SDU’s Ranking Team is led by Lone Grønbæk Jørgensen, head of department at the Department of Economics and head of centre at cPop, and also comprises Jacob Jensen, head of analysis, and Freja Rosenlund, international ranking coordinator, both from SDU Analytics.
SDU Analytics is responsible for the operational aspects of data reporting and, via SDU’s Analysis Portal, provides reports as well as ‘what-if’ scenario tools to support an understanding of international rankings.
Everyone can contribute to SDU’s international rankings
The description of the rankings on SDUnet is intended to raise awareness of how SDU works with international rankings and why they are important to the university. The research environments can also find information on how they can help SDU maintain the positive trend of recent years and strengthen its position in the international rankings.
Collaborative partners, publications, conferences, alumni networks and international contacts all help to strengthen SDU’s global position and visibility.
Last year, SDU achieved excellent results in several of the world’s most recognised ranking lists.
