SDU’s 60th anniversary
SDU marks its 60th anniversary with new quotes, speeches and cake
On Tuesday 15 September, SDU will mark its 60th anniversary at Campus Odense with new quotes at Interstitiel and speeches at the Campus Square. Cake will be served across the campus.
The celebrations will begin at 9.30 am at Interstitiel, the column by painter and sculptor Jørn Larsen in front of SDU's main entrance. Three new quotations will be unveiled on the staircase surrounding the column.
The quotations have been selected among suggestions made by students and staff and will form part of the existing artwork, where other quotations on knowledge, research, education and the university's role in society have already been engraved in the granite.
At 10.00, the anniversary celebrations will continue at the Campus Square with speeches by Rector Jens Ringsmose and Liora Volqvartz, a master's student studying political science. SUND's choir, Plica Vocalis, will also perform at the celebrations.
At 11.00, an exhibition will open at the University Library, which offers insight into the University's 60 years of history with highlights from each decade. Visitors can learn more about the degree programmes, the research and the society that have shaped the University of Southern Denmark over the years.
Cake will be served at Campus Odense from 10.00 to 13.30.

The anniversary week at SDU's campuses begins in Kolding
During the anniversary week, Rector Jens Ringsmose will visit several of SDU's campuses and give a speech along with a student speaker. The celebrations will begin in Kolding on Monday 14 September and continue in Odense on Tuesday 15 September. On Wednesday 16 September, there will be events in Sønderborg and Esbjerg.
