Research collaboration
Apply for funding for research collaboration with the University of Freiburg
Researchers at SDU can now apply for up to EUR 50,000 for joint projects with colleagues at the University of Freiburg. The new SDU-UFR Seed Funding scheme is open to all academic fields. The application deadline is 30 November 2026.
The scheme is part of the strategic partnership between SDU and the University of Freiburg.
– This scheme is a concrete expression of the ambition to turn the strategic partnership with the University of Freiburg into joint research. The aim is to create new connections between research environments and strengthen the foundation for future joint publications, research projects and external grants, says Jens Ringsmose, Rector.
What can you apply for funding for?
You can apply for up to EUR 50,000 per project, with a maximum of EUR 25,000 for each university. Projects can run for up to 12 months.
The funding can, for example, be used for salaries, travel, workshops, pilot studies, data collection and preparation of joint applications for external funding. Projects must have a clear academic benefit from the collaboration and a plan for how it can lead to continued collaboration, an application for external funding or another joint research outcome.
Who can apply?
Each application must have at least one principal applicant employed at SDU and one employee at the University of Freiburg. The project must be developed and carried out jointly.
Researchers from other higher education institutions cannot take part. External non-academic partners, such as companies or public organisations, can take part, but cannot receive funding from the scheme.
