Less bureaucracy and simpler HR processes

SDU simplifies a range of HR rules, bringing decision-making closer to daily operations and removing unnecessary requirements. This results in smoother processes and greater flexibility for both managers and employees.

As part of the university's efforts to eliminate SDU rules and workflows that are time-consuming without providing corresponding value, SDU HR has received a number of proposals for rule simplification. The first initiatives have now been implemented. These include the elimination of the following rules:

  • Delegation of approval authority to management level 2
Previously, decisions regarding the allocation of senior days, issuance of release certificates, and approval of applications for unpaid leave were made by the dean and university directors.

Going forward, approvals can be handled at management level 2, i.e., by area and secretariat managers as well as department heads.

  • Elimination of the requirement for consultation with SDU HR and annual reporting in connection with the employment of teaching lecturers and teaching assistants
Previously, the dean was required to consult with SDU HR when posting positions for teaching lecturers and teaching assistants.

This requirement is abolished, and recruitment will henceforth be handled in line with other academic staff appointments. At the same time, the requirement for annual reporting regarding these appointments is eliminated.
  • Elimination of the requirement for justifications
For the employment of staff in positions under 6 months, there has previously been a requirement for a written justification. Similarly, there has been a requirement for justification when requesting transfer of up to 5 vacation days.

Both requirements for justifications are abolished.

  • Elimination of the requirement for enrollment at SDU for student assistants
Previously, it was a prerequisite for employment as a student assistant that the student was enrolled at SDU.

This requirement is abolished, and it will henceforth be possible to also employ students from other higher education institutions.
