The digital landfill calls for a clean-up
Our data is piling up - both in the cloud and on our servers. Emails with attachments, powerpoints in multiple versions with large images, huge files from 2019 with old datasets - it takes up space! It's important that we all regularly tidy up our digital lives. Here's how to get started.
Cleaning up our digital workspaces has never been more vital
It's important to regularly clean up your digital workplace. For the sake of the climate, economy and security.
Take some time to dive into your old files and delete what you no longer use and hand in old SDU-computer, phone or other IT-equipment at your IT Service Desk.
The saying "many small streams..." applies here, so your action also makes a difference!
Did you know?
- All employees initially have 100GB at their disposal - everything else we pay extra for. If you need more space, it's not limited, but it's a shame to pay for space for data we no longer use.
- 7% of the world’s gold is currently stored in obsolete electronics? It can be recycled and help reduce the need for mining. Let's recycle all the IT equipment we no longer use ourselves!
- SDU pays for licenses on many computers that are sitting unused on shelves. We cannot cancel the licenses because we don’t know whether they are still in use. So cancel licences and let colleagues benefit from the equipment you don't need.
