Car sharing

If other forms of transport are not appropriate, you can be reimbursed for documented expenses for work-related trips by car-sharing or similar driving arrangements, such as GoMore or Hyre.

SDU does not cover the cost of car hire from family or friends in Denmark or abroad.

Car sharing in Denmark

The driving arrangement must be legal according to Danish legislation, there must be no insurance challenges, and you must provide sufficient documentation.

It is considered a positive factor in assessing whether an expense is sufficiently documented if the documentation incudes the following information:

  • Name, address and CVR number of the driving service
  • Information about both the lessor and lessee of the vehicle
  • Invoice date
  • Invoice number
  • Rental period
  • Information about the vehicle
  • Specification of the amount divided into:
    • Amount to the lessor
    • Amount to the driving service
    • Insurance
    • VAT

Uber may be used in Denmark if the service is provided through Uber’s collaboration with DRIVR, and if the conditions mentioned above are met.
Read more about Uber and DRIVR at https://drivr.com.

Car sharing abroad

For your own safety, please use authorised taxi companies. If you use a car-sharing scheme, it is at your own risk. The same documentation requirements apply as for Danish car-sharing schemes.

You can find out about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' recommendations for car sharing and other forms of transport in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' travel guides under Transport.
