Campus Development's construction processes
How we build
Campus Development is part of Technical Services. They work with the development of SDU's physical framework and primarily solve tasks within construction and development that require coordination across the organisation.
As the projects often involve many stakeholders, cross-pressure is handled through close coordination within the team, with team coordinators and in dialogue with SDU's management layers. Clarity on mandate, roles and expectations is key.
All projects are divided into phases:
- Pre-project
- Planning and execution
- Handover to operations
At the transition between phases, the following are determined:
- Decision-making structure
- Success criteria (time, economy, scope, and quality)
- Key personnel
Special considerations for new construction
Campus Development manages the project leadership of new constructions at SDU in close collaboration with the Danish Building and Property Agency and ensures that the projects are carried out within the established frameworks. New construction is initiated based on a strategic board decision, where academic needs, economy, and external requirements are balanced. Subsequently, the university director sets the framework for the construction, and Campus Development qualifies the project through dialogue with partners and systematic user involvement to ensure a successful outcome.
