Students develop competences. But do they know it?

Students develop a wide range of competences throughout their education, but they do not necessarily recognise everything they become better at along the way. The central aim of the Competence Portfolio (KP) project is therefore to strengthen students’ competence awareness: their ability to recognise and articulate the competences they develop. In this workshop, we will present some of the first research findings from KP. Students clearly describe how they benefit from the reflection activities, but what they gain from them depends, among other things, on where they are in their education.Another important finding is that reflection is particularly meaningful when it is embedded in the students’ disciplinary context.Taking this as our starting point, we will explore what it might be valuable for students to become more aware of in your disciplinary context, and how reflection activities can support this.Participants will work on an activity within their own disciplinary context, with the aim that everyone leaves the workshop with a concrete plan for a reflection activity that can be further developed and put into practice. Speakers: Michael Petersen, Madalina Jäger og Linette Sønderby.
