– I look forward to returning to the leadership role, Lars Porskjær Christensen says, referring to his 10 years of experience as head of department at the Faculty of Engineering, SDU.

– And I am really looking forward to being able to help shape the development of a department like FKF, which is already in an exciting development with a clear potential for growth in the coming years, he says.

Dean Marianne Holmer is also pleased to welcome Lars Porskjær Christensen to the faculty.

– I look forward to him starting as head of department at FKF. Lars has extensive experience with management from his time at the Faculty of Engineering and at Aalborg University, as well as knowledge of FKF through his teaching and research together with colleagues from the department, says Marianne Holmer.

– Lars is known for focusing on employee well-being, and I have great confidence that Lars will continue the positive development that Frants Roager Lauritsen has initiated at FKF during the recent reorganisation of sections. Lars takes over from Frants, who over the past 10 years has developed FKF within the department's three subject areas, she says.

A virtual start

One of the major tasks that Lars Porskjær Christensen will take on in the near future will be increasing student enrollment in FKF's education programmes, including the establishment of new master's degree profiles and the visibility of the education programmes to potential students.

In addition, he will initially focus on holding 1: 1 meetings and group meetings with employees at the department, so that he and they can get to know each other better.

– And in order for me to get a deeper insight into the research areas, current and upcoming projects, as well as insight into the individual work areas and functions at the department, he says.

Therefore, he is disappointed that the university, like the rest of society, is in the midst of a shutdown, just as he joins FKF.

– It will be a great challenge when switching to a new and so important position as head of department in the middle of a corona shutdown, as it naturally complicates the daily contact with colleagues and a visible management style, which I find to be of great importance, he says .
