The faculty's strategy in synergy with those of the departments

Across the faculty, people are working with the implementation of the strategy for 2021-2025. This year, seven themes from our strategy are particularly in focus.

Dear staff

These weeks I am visiting the departments with the Dean's Corner. IMADA was the first stop, where I received many good and critical questions about both the department's and the faculty's strategy in selected areas. It is great to meet again physically, look each other in the eye and discuss various issues.

The focal point for the autumn meetings is the faculty's strategy and interaction with the departments' strategies. I hope that many people want to participate in the meetings, as it is important that we have a good dialogue and get the right priorities made for the entire faculty.

This autumn, seven themes in the strategy are a high priority. These are 1) management, well-being and involvement, where the focus is on delegation letters to managers, competence development and involvement; 2) administrative digitization, where a number of new systems are utilized by the faculty and SDU; 3) 21st Science Skills in our educations, which are discussed in the education committee and in teaching committees; 4) cross-collaboration, where IMADA launches a new cross-cutting center in “AI Science and applications” and we set up an infrastructure committee to make the institutes' infrastructure visible; 5) digital competency development with expanded use of Teams in the administration; 6) co-creation, where 1-2 projects are to be selected across the faculty and 7) onboarding of new employees, where experience is gathered from departments with a view to developing effective onboarding throughout the faculty.

You can follow all activities around the strategy on SDUnet.dk, where there are updates from meetings in committees etc. During the autumn, we will also prioritize topics for the spring of 2022.

Another important task during this autumn is discussions about regionalization of education, where SDU must submit a plan to the ministry by the end of the year. Next week, I expect that we can begin with more concrete discussions of the faculty's contribution to SDU's plan. It is a difficult process, as it is difficult to look to the future and predict which competencies will be needed, and not least which educations the young people want to apply for.
